Background

Pawnee Watershed Joint District No. 81, along with the United States Department of Agriculture Natural Resource Conservation Service, is developing a Plan/Environmental Assessment (EA) for two subwatersheds (see the map above) using Watershed Protection and Flood Prevention Act funding. To complete remaining flood-control measures, the Joint District wants to develop a Plan/EA for each subwatershed. The federally required Plan/EA for each will:

  • Describe existing conditions.
  • Develop alternatives.
  • Evaluate economic, social, and environmental impacts.
  • Recommend a preferred alternative.

In addition, the Plan/EA will be prepared as required by the National Environmental Policy Act.
